Merrill’s Packaging Earns Dual AmeriStar Awards for Packaging Excellence

Merrill’s Packaging proudly received AmeriStar design awards in 2021 and 2023 for medical packaging design excellence. The Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) developed this prestigious program to recognize outstanding achievements. Consequently, the awards celebrate innovation, product protection, design, economics, and environmental impact across North America.

Recognizing Industry Leadership

Since 2001, nearly 650 professionals have earned AmeriStar recognition for exceptional packaging capabilities. This program has become a symbol of excellence throughout the industry. Moreover, it validates companies that demonstrate superior innovation in creating advanced packaging solutions.

2021 T-Line Hernia Mesh Package

In 2021, Merrill’s Packaging earned the AmeriStar Award for the T-Line Hernia Mesh Package. This custom package uses large-pore, medium-weight polypropylene mesh with extensions and needles. Additionally, it offers 7 or 14 mesh extensions per side to accommodate varying device sizes. The custom packaging provides optimal protection while maintaining sterility throughout distribution.

2023 SEEkey Transit Tray

Two years later, Merrill’s Packaging received another AmeriStar Award for the SEEkey Transit Tray. The company developed this tray for wire spools to eliminate traditional undercut snap popping issues. Furthermore, the thin packaging design reduced plastic usage by 44% and achieved 24% cost savings.

Through innovative engineering, Merrill’s Packaging optimized production to save 25-50% of plastic usage. These savings also reduced overall costs significantly for customers.
